Summer Season (May 1 – October 30) Alternative Camp İzmir Alternative Camp İzmir, which was active between May 1 – October 30, accomodated its participants along with its volunteers in Afacan Gençlik Moteli, which is associated with Gençtur in Yenişakran. Most Favorite Camp Activities
Among the participants of 2006 Alternative Camp İzmir were: TSD İstanbul and Gaziantep Branches, Zonguldak Spastik Çocuklar Derneği, Lüleburgaz Irmak Rehabilitasyon Özel Okulu, Altı Nokta Körler Derneği İstanbul Branch, Metin Sabancı Spastik Çocuklar Vakfı, Gaziantep Platformu, At the end of September, the volunteers completed their work at Afacan Motel and moved to Engelli Çocuklar Rehabilitasyon Merkezi (Disabled Children Rehabilitation Center) – a facility associated with Bodrum Sağlık Vakfı (Bodrum Health Foundation) – where they carried out studies and activities intended for the individuals receiving education at the center, their families and also for the trainers. Alternative Camp Sinop The camp, which took place between the dates of July 1 and 30, was in leadership of the swimming instructor İbrahim Dalgın, an Alternative Camp volunteer, and was organized in collaboration with Sinop Spastik Çocuklar Rehabilitasyon Merkezi (Sinop Spastic Children’s Rehabilitation Center). The camp at Sinop Akliman Orman Tesisleri consisted of 2 terms of 10-day periods. Approximately 150 spastic children and families participated in the camp. And the volunteers joined from Korea, Britain, France, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands and Turkey. Alternative Camp Artvin The camp took place between the dates of August 1 and 30 in leadership of Alp Kaan Koçak, one of our former volunteers, and was organized in collaboration with Artvin Zihinsel Özürlüler Derneği (Artvin Mentally Disabled People’s Association). Many young foreign and local volunteers joined the camp, where approximately 100 disabled individuals from Artvin region participated. The camp was located at Kafkasör Yaylası - a facility associated with Ministry of Youth and Sports. Alternative Camp Avşa We supported this camp, an organization of Türk Sakatlar Derneği (Turkey Handicapped Association), via concept and voluntary support. The camp took place between the dates of August 15 and September 15 for the first time and participation from the Marmara region was quite high. The Alternative Camp volunteer group of İzmir and other new volunteers went to Avşa in order to take part in the activities and also in the organization of the camp. |
